Groups of Moabite raiders used to invade the land each spring. Once when some Israelites were burying a man, they spied a band of these raiders. So they hastily threw the corpse in the tomb of Elisha and fled. But as soon as the body touched Elisha’s bones, the dead man revived and jumped to his feet! – 2 Kings 13: 20-21

For my 21st birthday, I took an Amtrak train and visited Miami for the first time.

And before boarding the train, I was in the middle of a miserable anxiety episode that had me feeling nauseated.

However, when I boarded, I sat next to a pleasant elderly lady who left a very powerful imprint on my life.

I don’t remember everything we talked about, but I do remember how fervently she spoke about Jesus.

And I remember her adamantly testifying about the miracles Jesus had performed in her life (which perked me up even though at the time, I was an agnostic).

But even now, well over a decade later, I’m still incredibly moved by her testimony and her faith.

It just goes to show how powerful it is to be in the presence of a truly faithful person.

And just like the dead man was revived by simply coming into contact with Elisha’s bones, we are spiritually revived by the genuine faith we see in others.

Right under love, faith is one of the most powerful forces in all of existence.

So it’s important that we surround ourselves with people who operate with a high degree of faith.

If we don’t, it will be all the more challenging to handle the trials of our lives.

And it will be even harder for us to light a spark in others who need encouragement and spiritual direction.

Be blessed,

Alexia

Prayer: God, I pray that right now you would increase my capacity for steadfast faith. Help me to understand that you possess limitless power, and that you have the ability to change any situation, no matter how hopeless it looks. And please continue to surround me with faithful people so I can light a fire in others who come into contact with me. In Jesus’ Name, I pray, Amen.
