When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners. Now, most people would not be willing to die for an upright person, though someone might perhaps be willing to die for a person who is especially good. But God showed His great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. – Romans 5: 6-8
On the day Jesus died, He endured the most unfathomable suffering.
He was brutalized from head to toe; from the crown of thorns placed on His head to the giant nails hammered into His feet.
He was beaten mercilessly, taunted, and mocked without any semblance of remorse or compassion.
The most bitter hatred that the human soul is capable of was thrown at Him as He painstakingly carried His cross.
Yet He, spotless and innocent, willingly bore this burden and sacrificed Himself through excruciating torture.
For us!
For the liars, murderers, and thieves of the world.
For the proud and greedy.
For the arrogant and obnoxious.
For the selfish and unworthy…
What He did was truly remarkable.
The enormity of love that propelled His sacrifice was one that none of us can truly comprehend.
So as we reflect on Jesus’ crucifixion today, let’s honor Him with everything we have inside of us.
Because while we were still sinners, He died so that we could have eternal life.
Be blessed,
Alexia
