The first time I was brought before the judge, no one came with me. Everyone abandoned me. May it not be counted against them. But the Lord stood with me and gave me strength so that I might preach the Good News in it’s entirety…Yes, the Lord will deliver me from every evil attack and will bring me safely into his heavenly Kingdom. – 2 Timothy 4: 16-18
When I was 12 years old, my mother and I took a trip to visit my grandmother.
When we arrived at the little shotgun house in Georgia, my grandmother greeted us warmly as she always did.
She told us she’d walked the dog, mopped the floor, and done some other chores around the house, and I helped her a bit as she reorganized some things in one of the rooms.
She handed me a glass plaque with the Footprints poem inscribed on it and she gave me strict instructions to memorize it, adding, “You’re going to need this in your life.”
Those were the last words I remember my grandmother ever speaking to me, because that same night, she passed away suddenly of a massive heart attack. I was beyond traumatized and devastated.
But as time went on, the Holy Spirit revealed to me how truthful her words were.
When I was at my darkest and lowest points, God was the one who comforted me and carried me when I felt like everyone else had abandoned me or misunderstood me…
But we can’t count anything against anyone for not being with us every step of the way.
Because there’s no human being who can strengthen us, guide us, protect us, give us answers, and love us like God can.
He will deliver us from every attack, heal our every wound, plant angels in our paths, and open doors for us that no one can close.
So in those moments when we feel alone, we must not be discouraged.
Because the Holy Spirit is surrounding us on all sides with His love.
Be blessed,
Alexia
Prayer: God, thank you for always surrounding me with your eternal love. Thank you for walking with me and carrying me every moment of my life. Whenever I feel alone, please comfort me and remind me that I can be at ease knowing that you will never leave nor forsake me. Help me to understand that if everyone around me deserts me, I am rich and blessed because you are with me. In Jesus’ Name, I pray, Amen.
