Suppose someone secretly entices you – even your brother, your son or daughter, your beloved wife, or your closest friend – and says, “Let us go worship other gods…” They might suggest that you worship the gods of peoples who live nearby or who come from the ends of the earth. But do not give in or listen. – Deuteronomy 13: 6-8

It is a scientific fact that when one rotten apple is placed among fresh apples, the fresh apples closest to the rotten one will also begin to rot.

The saying “one apple spoils the bunch” is true in the most literal sense.

And the same principle applies to people:

Surrounding yourself with “bad apples” will cause you to rot.

And people don’t have to entice you to follow other spiritual traditions or gods to lead you astray.

Look out for these signs of having bad apples in your life:

  • Constantly gossipping about or laughing at others
  • Making unfair assumptions about people
  • Discriminating; picking and choosing who gets love and who doesn’t
  • Getting angry very easily
  • Holding grudges; refusing to let go of offenses

There are more indicators, but the big take-home is that these signs show when a person isn’t truly living for God.

And if they aren’t living for God, they’re living under the control of another power…

The longer you keep these types around you, the more you will become like them.

You may even find yourself dealing with some serious consequences when you allow yourself to be influenced by ungodly behavior.

So be wise about the company you keep.

Pick your friends like you pick your fruit.

Keep people around you who will enrich you and strengthen your character!

Be blessed,

Alexia
