When the Son of Man returns, it will be like it was in Noah’s day. In those days before the flood, the people were enjoying banquets and parties and weddings right up to the time Noah entered his boat. People didn’t realize what was going to happen until the flood came and swept them all away. That is the way it will be when the Son of Man comes. -Matthew 24: 37-39

Anytime we become tempted to compare our lives to someone else’s or lament over lost opportunities, we should remember that this world and everything in it will pass away.

The things we worry about – money, acceptance, relationships, success, education, etc. – are all distractions.

It’s all smoke and mirrors.

Because everything about this world will one day fade away.

One day, parties, trips to the movies, vacations, and coveted red-carpet ceremonies will all cease to exist.

Our lives here are but a vapor. None of us will be here forever.

The only thing that will stand when it’s all said and done is our love for Christ as evidenced by the way we lived our lives while we were here on earth.

So as we move about our lives, running errands, going to work, and taking care of our daily responsibilities, we must keep our minds and hearts focused on the eternal.

Because tomorrow is not promised.

We know neither the day nor the hour that we will be taken away from this place.

Be blessed,

Alexia

Prayer: God, help me to keep my heart, mind, soul, and spirit focused on the eternal at all times. Help me to not be saddened or distracted by the things of this world, but empowered and encouraged by the promise of your Heavenly Kingdom. In Jesus’ Name, I pray, Amen.
