The Lord took hold of me, and I was carried away by the Spirit of the Lord to a valley filled with bones. Then he asked me, “Son of man, can these bones become living people again?” Then He said to me, “Speak a prophetic message to these bones and say, ‘Dry bones, listen to the word of the Lord! Look! I am going to put breath into you and make you live again!” – Ezekiel 37: 1 -5
When God was preparing to bring the Israelites out of exile, He gave the prophet Ezekiel a compelling vision about their revival.
He gave Ezekiel a vivid vision of being in a valley of dry bones and asked him if he thought the bones could come back to life.
No one else was with Ezekiel when he had this vision, but I imagine he had to be thinking to himself, God, is this a trick question because in my mind the answer is no.
But he replied, “God, only you know the answer to that question.”
Ezekiel was placed in a position to seriously contemplate: God, just how powerful are you?
He soon learned that God’s capabilities went far beyond what he could possibly imagine.
Before his very eyes, he saw and heard the bones rattle across the valley, and he saw bodies come together with muscles and flesh.
Then God told him to speak a prophetic word over the bones: “Come, O breath, from the four winds! Breathe into these dead bodies so they may live again.”
And all the bodies came to life and stood on their feet as a great army.
With that vision, Ezekiel learned that God truly had no limits.
And what’s phenomenal is that the same God who spoke to Ezekiel is the same God who speaks to us; he hasn’t changed.
Whatever looks impossible to us, is a piece of cake to God.
All we have to do is have faith, believe that God is who He says He is, and watch the magic happen.
Be blessed,
Alexia
Prayer: God, thank you for showing me, through your word, just how powerful you are. When I face situations that look impossible or hopeless, help me to remember the vision of the valley of dry bones that you gave to Ezekiel. And give me the faith I need to activate your miraculous power. In Jesus’ Name, I pray, Amen.
