If you follow my decrees and are careful to obey my commands, I will send you the seasonal rains. The land will then yield its crops, and the trees of the field will produce their fruit. I will give you peace in the land, and you will be able to sleep with no cause for fear. – Leviticus 26: 3-4, 6
One of the issues some people have with believing in God is that they don’t want to believe just because they don’t want to go to hell.
I’m going to be completely honest and say that’s a legitimate concern.
The best way I can address it is by sharing a story of an atheist man who died and discovered that his consciousness survived his physical death:
He stated that after he died, he felt as real as he did when he was alive.
He said he was led down an endless gray corridor and it went on for miles and miles.
He had no rest.
In life, he had a wife. But there, he had no companionship.
He had nothing.
He also said that he was surrounded by beings that wished him harm. They didn’t wish to kill him.
They just wished to hurt him.
And they did..
The phenomenal thing about his story is that never at any time he was in that terrible place did he feel he didn’t deserve to be there.
Miraculously, he had an encounter with Jesus before the doctors brought him back to life, and from that point on, he fully committed his life to Christ.
The way he explained it was that he chose to live without God when he was alive. So when he died, God respected his decision and his soul went to a place where God wasn’t there.
This is what God explained to the Israelites: If you stick with me and follow my ways, I’ll be right there with you to give you my love and my blessings. But if you don’t, the opposite will be true.
And this applies to us now with Jesus.
Whoever believes in Him and puts their trust and faith in Him only, will not perish, but have everlasting life (John 3:16).
The choice is ours to make everyday.
Either we choose God and walk in His way of love, peace, joy, forgiveness, generosity, humility, kindness, and grace (which is beautiful and eternally fulfilling), or…we don’t.
Just be aware of what you’re choosing, if you choose to live without Him.
Be blessed,
Alexia
