After breakfast, Jesus asked Simon Peter, “Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?” “Yes Lord,” Peter replied, “you know I love you.” “Then feed my lambs,” Jesus told him. Jesus repeated the question: “Simon son of John, do you love me?” “Yes Lord, ” Peter said, “you know I love you.” “Then take care of my sheep,” Jesus said. – John 21: 15-16
Jesus asked Peter to declare his love so many times, that Peter actually started to feel a little hurt.
But Jesus wasn’t asking him that question over and over because He doubted Peter’s love.
He asked the question to emphasize the importance of spreading the Gospel after He took His place in heaven.
Jesus wanted His disciples to tell everyone all about Him and how all the ancient prophecies pointed to Him.
He wanted Peter and the rest of His disciples to bring home all the lost lambs and sheep of the world.
This is the great commission we’ve all been tasked with as believers.
And our love for Christ is evidenced by the way we minister to the people in our lives.
Every day, we should make it our top priority to demonstrate the love of Christ to others and share our testimonies to encourage people to seek Him.
Because there’s no greater peace in this universe than knowing that Jesus is going to welcome you into eternal glory when you leave this world.
Be blessed,
Alexia
Prayer: God, if I am not ministering to others in my life effectively, please help me to do better. Send your Holy Spirit to direct my actions and give me the right words to say. Help me to be transparent and open in sharing my testimony with others. In Jesus’ Name, I pray, Amen.
