Keep loving each other as brothers and sisters. Don’t forget to show hospitality to strangers, for some who have done this have entertained angels without realizing it! – Hebrews 13: 1-2

We often hear that we should be kind to others because we don’t know what they’re going through.

And I wholeheartedly believe in that because people suffer from unfathomable conditions that we may not be able to comprehend; we don’t want to be the straw that breaks someone’s back.

But we must remember that showing indiscriminatory kindness and love to others is God’s greatest commandment.

It’s easy for us to bend over backward with hospitality for friends, family, and people we feel we can relate to.

However, the real test lies in how we treat people we don’t know or wouldn’t typically associate with.

Do we judge others based on their appearance and/or speech?

Or do we take the stance that everyone deserves the same love and respect that we ourselves want?

Hopefully, we are taking the latter stance as it is evidence that we are truly carrying the love of Christ in our hearts and that we seek to please God.

Because our God who sees all and knows all just might plant one of His angels in our paths to test us.

And if we pass the test, He may surprise us and bless us in a way we could never have imagined!

Be blessed,

Alexia

Prayer: God, fill me with your Holy Spirit so that I will show love, hospitality, and understanding to everyone I come across. Lead me away from all forms of discrimination, and give me a heart that seeks not to receive anything in return when I demonstrate the compassion that I know is pleasing to you. Help me to be enthusiastic about showing love to strangers. In Jesus’ Name, I pray, Amen.
