“Be strong, Jeshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest. Be strong, all you people still left in the land. And now get to work, for I am with you, says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies. My Spirit remains among you, just as I promised when you came out of Egypt. So do not be afraid.” – Haggai 2: 4-5
Whenever there’s a huge undertaking that lies before us in our lives, it can evoke a serious amount of stress when we evaluate the enormity of the task at hand.
The emotional turmoil we wrestle with can even leave us feeling physically drained if we’re prone to anxiety or nervousness.
We may think:
- Am I capable of getting that job?
- Do I have what it takes to start this business?
- Am I fit for parenthood?
- Am I smart enough?
- Do I have enough stamina to accomplish my goals?
But when those moments come, we have to remember what God told Zerubbabel in Zechariah 4: 6-7:
It is not by force nor by strength, but by my Spirit, says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies. Nothing, not even a mighty mountain, will stand in Zerubbabel’s way; it will become a level plain before him!
When we become paralyzed with performance anxiety, we need to remind ourselves that it’s not a matter of whether or not we possess the right capabilities.
Because it’s only through the help of the Holy Spirit that we’re able to succeed in any area of our lives.
And when we’re walking in His will and not our own, all He requires of us is that we take action and put our best foot forward.
We must know that as soon as we take one step on His path, His powerful Spirit will lift us off the ground and cause us to soar.
He will orchestrate everything perfectly and place the right people and resources on our paths just when we need them.
So when we find ourselves feeling the pressure, we must pause and meditate so we can hear God’s voice speaking truth into our situation:
Get to work for I, the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, am with you. And I will make everything work!
Be blessed,
Alexia
Prayer: God, I admit that I put too much pressure on myself and sometimes fail to understand that you are the ultimate waymaker in my life. Right now, I pray that your Holy Spirit would restore me mentally and emotionally so that I can get to work on the assignments you’ve designated for me. In Jesus’ Name, I pray, Amen.
