I am very discouraged, and I was pouring out my heart to the Lord. Don’t think I am a wicked woman! For I have been praying out of great anguish and sorrow. – 1 Samuel 1: 15-16
Even the strongest person in the world has moments of great anguish.
Times when their emotional burden is so heavy that their bodies literally ache with overwhelming discouragement and grief.
This was the case with Hannah.
She became so distraught over her inability to have children that she couldn’t eat and she constantly cried with the most heartwrenching bitterness.
But she didn’t lay down and die in defeat.
Instead, she gave every ounce of pain that was in her soul to God.
And that’s what we must do.
When we’re in the pits of despair, we must get on our knees and pour out our heartbreak to God, withholding nothing.
We must take our emotional watering cans and pour them out on Him:
Any confusion, frustration, jealousy, discouragement, alienation, demoralization, anxiety, helplessness, fear, agony, hurt, grief, anguish, embarrassment, rage, guilt, weakness, sorrow, depression, suicidal thoughts, or any other tormenting emotion… must go straight to God.
When we feel like we’re about to burst and don’t know how much more we can take, we have to go to God knowing that He’s all-powerful and that He truly loves and cares for us in a way that no other human being does.
He’s always listening.
And He’s always ready to move in miraculous ways on our behalf when we submit and commit to Him.
Weeping may endure for a night, but joy will come in the morning when God is on our side.
Be blessed,
Alexia
