Ever since I first heard of your strong faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for God’s people everywhere, I have not stopped thanking God for you. I pray for you constantly… – Ephesians 1: 15-16

Throughout the book of Ephesians, Paul gives the believers of Ephesus strong words of encouragement by telling them how they’ve been made alive in Christ. And he also advises them to make every effort to serve as one body and live in the light of the Holy Spirit.

But for me, his prayers for the believers stood out the most because they were so beautiful and heartwarming.

When he prayed for the believers, he asked God to:

1. Give them spiritual wisdom and insight to help them grow in their knowledge of God.
2. Fill their hearts with light so they could understand the confident hope He has given them.
3. Help them understand the incredible greatness of His power.
4. Empower them with inner strength through His Spirit.
5. Help them have the power to understand how wide, long, high, and deep His love is.
6. Help them experience the love of Christ even though it’s too great to understand.

Paul’s intercessory prayers for the people were packed with pleas for spiritual development and growth.

And as followers of Christ, these are the types of prayers we should be praying for others and ourselves every day.

Because they truly deepen our relationship with God and unlock His supernatural power.

Our sole objective in life should be to seek God and all of His glory, sacrificing all earthly attachments and desires.

So if we’re looking for God to heal our physical bodies and change our circumstances in the natural, it won’t be possible unless we first immerse ourselves fully in His unseen Spirit.

We as believers should all come to understand how infinitely wide, long, high, and deep God’s love is.

Because when we do, we will truly experience the peace, joy, and fulfillment that God desires for us.

Prayer: God, I pray that you would give everyone I know and myself the spiritual wisdom and insight we need to grow in our knowledge of You. Fill our hearts with light so we can understand the confident hope you’ve given us. Help us to understand the incredible greatness of your power.
