You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous – how well I know it. – Psalms 139: 13-14
Isn’t it fascinating to know that God knit us all together in the womb?
Before anyone knew what we would look like, God knew because He sculpted us with His very own hands.
We are His marvelous works of art!
And before we were even born, he planned out our lives and established our purpose.
So we must embrace how he designed every part of us because it was all done with loving intention.
Simone Biles, the most decorated gymnast in history, illustrated this point beautifully when she spoke about being criticized for her appearance in a 2020 Vogue interview:
“They focused on how big my legs were. But God made me this way, and I feel like if I didn’t have these legs or these calves, I wouldn’t be able to tumble as high as I can and have all of these moves named after me.”
When we look at ourselves in the mirror, we should also be able to identify how our uniquely beautiful design serves us in our life’s purpose.
I’ve always wanted to be a bit taller, but if I was, I may have tried to pursue a career on the runway, and I may not have ever had the experiences that shaped me into the woman I am today.
So we should never allow anyone or anything to make us feel as though we’re not good enough as we are.
We shouldn’t go out and get cosmetic surgery that isn’t medically necessary in order to look like someone else.
Because we are who God made us to be, and at the end of the day, our bodies will fade away to dust.
And we will have to stand before God and give an account for how we lived our lives.
So we should focus on fulfilling our purpose and embracing ourselves for who we are because each one of us is special and beautifully made!
Be blessed,
Alexia
Prayer: God, help me to see and love myself the way that You see and love me. Help me to ignore the negative opinions of others. Keep me focused on my purpose, and fill me up with contentment in who I am so I can be an encouragement to others. In Jesus’ Name, I pray. Amen.
