But all they gave him was lip service; they lied to him with their tongues. Their hearts were not loyal to Him. They did not keep His covenant. Yet He was merciful and forgave their sins. – Psalm 78: 36-38

Billie Holiday sang a song called “All of Me” that went:

All of me

Why not take all of me

Can’t you see

I’m no good without you…

Granted, she wasn’t singing to God when she sang this, but the words definitely express the type of attitude we should have in our relationship with God.

God doesn’t want our lip service. He wants our complete devotion to Him.

He doesn’t want us to be a holy roller on Sunday and a jerk at our jobs.

He wants us to have His word in our thoughts, on our lips, and in our hearts, from the moment we wake up to the moment we lie back down.

When we’re interacting with folks in the grocery store and when we’re hanging out with friends.

When we’re at the doctor’s office, and when we go to the bank.

He wants us to worship Him in spirit and in truth all the time- with everything we have.

Because His love and devotion to us is pure, unchanging, and unending.

Be blessed,

Alexia

Prayer: God, fill me up with your Holy Spirit and keep me directly in the center of your will. Lead me away from the temptation to be swayed by the world and purify my heart so that I may worship you in spirit and in truth all the days of my life. In Jesus’ Name, I pray. Amen
