Get rid of all your pagan idols, purify yourselves, and put on clean clothing. We are now going to Bethel, where I will build an altar to the God who answered my prayers when I was in distress. He has been with me wherever I have gone. – Genesis 35: 2-3
In my spiritual journey, I’ve been all over the place.
I’ve participated in Buddhist meditation services, traditional African spiritual ceremonies, Muslim prayer circles, and spiritual cleansing workshops hosted by psychics.
I’ve built complex prayer altars decorated with all sorts of objects, pictures, and candles.
I’ve received Tarot and “Angel” card readings.
I’ve worn gemstones for their healing properties and practiced Reiki.
I’ve even cast spells for charm and love.
Oh, and before I dabbled in all of the above, I was Agnostic.
But when I came to a dangerous breaking point in my life, and I realized that none of these traditions, lifestyles, or practices gave me the clarity, peace, understanding, wisdom, or answers that I was desperately seeking…
I remembered all the testimonies of my Christian friends and family.
I remembered their assurance and confidence in Christ.
And early one Sunday morning, it was like they collectively stood around my bed and said:
Alexia, get up. Go clean yourself up. Get rid of all that other spiritual stuff. And go to church. Christ has always answered our prayers when we were in distress. He has been with us wherever we’ve gone, and He is the only One you need to look to.
So with a sullen and defeated heart, I got up and followed the command. I told God I was going to the church house and I wasn’t gonna leave until I learned what Christianity was really all about.
And let me tell you: I’ve found everything I’ve ever wanted or needed (and then some) in Christ.
If you’re in a place in your life where you’re unsure and still want answers like I did, I invite you to accept or re-dedicate your life to Christ. All you have to do is click this link to start your journey.
If you already have a relationship with Christ, never be afraid to share the Gospel with others. If it had not been for the Holy Spirit working through others to plant seeds in me, I would’ve never met my Savior.
Be blessed,
Alexia
