Moreover, I hereby decree that you are to help these elders of the Jews as they rebuild this Temple of God. You must pay the full construction costs, without delay, from my taxes collected in the province west of the Euphrates River so that the work will not be interrupted. – Ezra 6: 8
One of the most encouraging truths reinforced in the Bible time and time again is that God’s plans can never be sabotaged or destroyed.
No matter what anyone else says or does, if God has mapped out success for us, nobody can stop it.
And when we’re truly committed to living out God’s will with every fiber of our being, we’re going to gather some naysayers and opposition.
That’s exactly what happened to the Israelites when they rededicated themselves to God and the rebuilding of His Temple after their Babylonian exile.
The enemies of Israel did everything in their power to stop the rebuilding of the Temple:
- They used scare tactics.
- They bribed agents to work against the Israelites.
- They wrote letters to surrounding kings full of bogus accusations and lies.
- They had orders issued to stop the Temple’s construction.
However, when a search was performed to verify that King Cyrus indeed issued a decree to allow the Israelites to rebuild the Temple, King Darius ordered the naysayers not to disturb the construction.
But here’s the kicker:
King Darius also ordered those in opposition to pay the full construction costs!
Talk about the Lord making enemies a footstool…
So with this, be encouraged. When you’re led by God and covered in His favor, there’s nothing the enemy can do to stop your shine!
Be blessed,
Alexia
Prayer: God, when the enemy and his henchmen come to attack and distract me while I’m working to complete the projects you’ve assigned to me, help me to not fall for his tricks or be dismayed. Help me to understand that if you are for me, then no man or devil can be against me. In Jesus’ Name, I pray, Amen.
