But the Lord stands beside me like a great warrior. Before him my persecutors will stumble. They cannot defeat me. They will fail and be thoroughly humiliated. – Jeremiah 20: 11
The prophet Jeremiah went through so much turmoil when he prophesied on behalf of the Lord.
The Israelites had strayed so far away from God’s covenant, that He decided to banish them from the promised land.
And out of all the Israelites, God chose Jeremiah, a lowly priest from the tribe of Benjamin, to deliver His message of exile.
But when Jeremiah delivered God’s truth and urged the people to return to God’s Holy way to avoid destruction, nobody wanted to hear it!
In fact, he was threatened, persecuted, whipped, and thrown into the stocks for speaking out.
Jeremiah was unwavering in his obedience to spread God’s word, but his passion and commitment to speak the truth was also his greatest burden.
If he spoke out, he faced ostracization and ridicule. But when he kept the word inside, it burned within his heart like a fire.
But in the midst of his turmoil, He held tight to God’s unchanging hand because he knew that God was the greatest warrior to ever exist.
And like Jeremiah, Christians all around the world today face persecution to varying degrees for speaking God’s truth.
But we must know that when we’ve developed an intimate relationship with God, He will stand beside us always and give us divine victory when we commit to speaking and living His truth.
Hate, jealousy, malice, and evil will all fail.
But the Lord who is our everlasting rock will never be destroyed!
Be blessed,
Alexia
Prayer: Lord, in this world where bearers of your word are persecuted, be my strength to help me deliver your truth to people in need of your love and guidance. In difficult times, comfort me and help me to understand that you are an ever-present warrior who always stands beside me. In Jesus’ Name, I pray, Amen.
Amen 🙏🏾
