The brothers approached the manager of Joseph’s household and spoke to him at the entrance to the palace… “We have no idea who put our money in our sacks.” “Relax. Don’t be afraid,” the household manager told them. Your God, the God of your father, must have put this treasure into your sacks.” Genesis 43: 19; 22-23

What’s the worst thing you’ve ever done?

Have you lied to somebody close to you? Embarrassed somebody? Spread a false rumor?

Have you done something even more serious? Committed adultery? Gotten somebody killed? Basically ruined somebody’s life?

It’s ok, you can confess it. I’m not in any position to judge anybody. (And I can’t see or hear you through your phone or computer.)

When you’ve done something you feel in your heart was completely unforgivable (and people around you let you know it was unforgivable), it’s very hard to grasp the concept that God wants to bless you despite your terrible actions.

There was a time I didn’t truly know Christ. And I hurt people very badly in the midst of coping with PTSD.

I cussed people out. I cut people off. I even publicly humilated my own mother; the worst thing I’ve ever done…

So I can relate to Joseph’s brothers and their reluctance to accept a blessing without suspicion or fear.

Joseph’s older brothers plotted to kill him but ended up selling him into slavery. Years later, there was a severe famine, and they had to travel to Egypt to get food. But they didn’t know Joseph was still alive much less that he had become Pharoah’s right-hand man.

When Jospeh saw them, they didn’t recognize him. But Joseph sent them back to their land with money in their sacks.

They could not comprehend, fathom, or believe that they, in all of their sinfulness, could receive a such a blessing. They thought it was a trick and that they were being set up. They thought it was part of their punishment for what they did to Joseph.

But God shows grace and mercy to even the worst of sinners.

That’s why I bow and worship Him everyday.

He sent His Son to die on the cross for me so that I could take part in blessings I don’t deserve.

It’s truly unbelievable, but you must never be afraid to accept God’s blessings.

He wants you to live abundantly and know that you are forgiven no matter what you’ve done!

Be blessed,

Alexia
