As Samson and his parents were going down to Timnah, a young lion suddenly attacked Samson near the vineyards of Timnah. At that moment the Spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon him, and he ripped the lion’s jaws apart with his bare hands. He did it as easily as if it were a young goat. – Judges 14: 5-6

When our burdens seem too heavy for us to bear, we must remember that inner strength is a spiritual phenomenon, and we must rely on God to fortify us.

When we are weak, God is always strong.

When that lion moved to attack Samson, his fight or flight response kicked in, and I’m sure his life flashed before his eyes as he was gripped with pure terror.

But when the Spirit of God took over, he went into fight mode and miraculously snapped the lion’s jaws like a toothpick.

In times when we’re genuinely struggling and we seriously don’t know how much more we can take, we have to turn to God for strength because He’s the only one who can give it to us:

  • He’ll give us strength when we feel burned out, misunderstood, or attacked.
  • He’ll give us strength when we’re battling depression and suicidal thoughts.
  • He’ll give us strength and energy to accomplish our goals.
  • He’ll give us strength to step out on faith.
  • And He’ll give us strength to forgive when we can’t do it on our own.

No matter what the giant looks like for us, God can and will give us the strength to defeat it when we put our total trust in Him.

We really have to believe that like we believe the sun will rise every morning.

So be encouraged, be hopeful, and be empowered.

Because God is always ready to support you when you can’t do it on your own.

Be blessed,

Alexia
