..blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence. They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought. – Jeremiah 17: 7-8
Whenever we see verses repeated in the Bible, it’s a clue for us to really perk up and pay attention.
Psalms 1: 1-3 says: Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners…but they delight in the law of the Lord, meditating on it day and night. They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season.
These verses show that God wants us to be completely grounded and rooted in Him.
Because the simple truth is that when we are, we will flourish in every way and experience real peace.
In seasons of drought, those who know and trust God will be able to withstand the dry season.
When temperatures rise, those who are faithful can take the heat.
It may seem like a redundant message, but it’s one that God practically screams all throughout Scripture:
Trust me! I’ve got everything under control!
I’ve said this numerous times, but it’s only because I think it’s the most important concept we can grasp in our lives. We have to trust that God’s word is true and that it has all the answers we need in life.
And the more we reinforce it to ourselves through repetition, the more confident we will be in His power.
Then perhaps one day, without even realizing it, we will creep into a blissful state of “unbotheredness” – where nothing and no one can shake our peace and confidence in the God we serve.
Be blessed,
Alexia
Prayer: God, plant me firmly by the waters of your word and your love. Help me to trust you more and more as the days go by. Till the soil of my heart, mind, spirit, and soul and plant within me true confidence in your matchless power. In Jesus’ Name, I pray, Amen.
