I cry out to you, O God, but you don’t answer. I stand before you, but you don’t even look. – Job 30:20
If I stood in front of an audience and asked everyone to raise their hand if they’ve ever felt like God had either forgotten about them or wasn’t listening to them, I imagine a lot of hands would go up.
If I asked the same group of people to raise their hands if they’ve ever experienced the grace, mercy, and blessings of God, I think a lot of the same hands would go up.
I know my hand would be raised after both questions…
That’s why I’m glad that even though our faith can swing like a pendulum depending on the circumstances we’re faced with, God remains the same.
In all honesty, I think that when we’re in pain and we don’t have all the answers, it’s natural for us to feel as though God has abandoned us. Even Jesus had a moment on the cross where He thought God had forsaken Him.
But in tough times we have to renew our minds with the facts:
God is always with us.
He’s always watching us.
He’s always guiding us.
He’s always planning out the best pathway for us.
And He’s always listening.
So perhaps it’s in those very moments that we desperately want God to answer us, that we should exercise more faith and assurance by intently listening to what He’s trying to say to us.
Because the truth is that He’s the same loving and merciful God every single day.
Be Blessed,
Alexia
