The voice said to me, “Son of man, eat what I am giving you – eat this scroll!…Then he added, “Son of man, let all my words sink deep into your own heart first. Listen to them carefully for yourself. Then go to your people in exile and say to them, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says!’ – Ezekiel 3: 1;10-11.

We all know the saying – If you catch a fish for a man, he’ll eat for a day, but if you teach a man to fish, he’ll eat for a lifetime.

But nobody really talks about the preparation that goes into the teaching.

In order to teach, we must first commit to learning.

A person who learns how to fish must listen to instructions and commit to practicing and improving their technique over time.

Once they’ve mastered the skill, then they can break it down to someone else.

And that’s a key element of effective ministry:

Listening to the word and actively practicing what it says.

Because when we do, we will see the Lord at work in our lives and we’ll be able to share powerful testimonies with others.

And when others see us eating well on God’s spiritual food, they will want us to teach them how to fish for the Word too!

Be blessed,

Alexia

Prayer: Lord, please continue to teach me how to read and interpret your Word so that I may accurately apply your principles to my life. And as I minister to others, guide my tongue and my actions so I can teach others how to fish for your Word the right way. In Jesus’ Name, I pray, Amen.
