So we must listen very carefully to the truth we have heard, or we may drift away from it. For the message God delivered through angels has always stood firm. – Hebrews 2: 1-2
When the New Year rolls around, many people set resolutions to exercise daily and lose weight. It’s one of the most common New Year’s resolutions.
And after the first week of the year, approximately 75% stick to their plans. After two weeks, the number dwindles to about 70%.
But six months in, less than 50% of people who have made a resolution are successful in keeping it.
That’s because life gets in the way and sometimes folks have to shift their priorities around.
However, we have to be careful not to let this happen in our spiritual lives – starting off strong in Christ, but then drifting away from His truth over time.
Hebrews 3: 14 says:
For if we are faithful to the end, trusting God just as firmly as when we first believed, we will share in all that belongs to Christ.
So that means our dedication to the Lord should never dwindle.
Staying in the word should be a top priority every single day because God’s truth is supreme.
And if our lives aren’t revolving around it, we’ll spin out of control.
But if we resolve to read the word daily and stay strong in prayer, we will become like spiritual bodybuilders who can lift the weights of life’s troubles.
We must be careful not to prioritize anything over listening to the truth of God’s word.
Because when we trust God to the end, He will reward us in ways that we can’t comprehend.
Be blessed,
Alexia
Prayer: God, help me to always stay dedicated to you and your word no matter what. Help me to understand that there’s nothing in this entire universe more important than sticking with you. When I am tempted to pull away from you, pull me in closer so I can grow in your Spirit and experience the beautiful rewards of steadfast faith. In Jesus’ Name, I pray, Amen.
