Do not stifle the Holy Spirit. Do not scoff at prophecies, but test everything that is said. Hold on to what is good. Stay away from every kind of evil. – 1 Thessalonians 5: 19-22.

Sometimes it blows my mind how limitless God really is.

We just simply can’t contain Him within our human logic and reason. No matter how smart we think we are, God’s intelligence will always make the smartest and wisest among us foolish.

That’s why we have to keep our hearts and minds open at all times so we can hear His voice.

Our culture may be supernatural averse and quick to shun and fear everything that is out of the ordinary.

But we must understand that we serve a supernatural God who is eternally good.

And we shouldn’t shut ourselves off from receiving messages from Him through prophecies and visions.

According to Paul, we have to evaluate everything, and if what we receive is good, we should hold on to it.

For example:

Several years ago I had a very vivid dream that one of my friends was being physically abused.

The vision I received was 20 times more realistic and nuanced than most of my other dreams. And it really bothered me in my spirit.

So even though I hadn’t spoken to her in a while, I called her the next day and told her about my dream.

And lo and behold, she revealed to me that she had recently separated from her husband because he had violently attacked her on a couple’s retreat.

She was very shocked and amazed that I knew what was going on in her life. And to be honest, so was I.

Over the next few weeks, I offered my shoulder to her for emotional support and she was very thankful that I was there for her during the toughest time of her life.

But if I would have dismissed the vision as simply another dream, I would have never been able to support her…

So as we move about our lives, we have to be very aware that God is always working and He has several modes of communication.

The Holy Spirit has no limits, so we have to remain open to receiving Him in whatever way He chooses to communicate with us.

Be blessed,

Alexia

Prayer: God, thank you so much for sending your Holy Spirit to guide, comfort, and teach me. Help me to be open to receiving your messages, and not dismiss them out of fear or disbelief. Teach me how to discern your voice, so I can clearly recognize when your hand is at work in my life. In Jesus’ Name, I pray, Amen.
