As for me, may I never boast about anything except the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. Because of that cross, my interest in this world has been crucified, and the world’s interest in me has also died. – Galatians 6: 14

When I was younger, I didn’t know much about Apostle Paul other than the fact he was unmarried.

So I would often wonder how he felt about his marital status. Did he ever get lonely? Did he ever long for a wife and children? Was Paul happy in his life?

But the more I read about him and read his letters, the more I understand that he was on an entirely different spiritual plane altogether.

The things we concern ourselves with- marriage, children, money, travel, etc., were not on his radar.

Because he was immersed completely in the power and love of the Holy Spirit.

Scripture says that Paul was so in tune with the Holy Spirit, that God gave him the power to perform unusual miracles. If he touched a handkerchief, that handkerchief could heal the sick and cast out demons.

Miracles are unusual in and of themselves, so the fact that Paul was performing miracles like these means that he was basically an earthly angel, a different type of being altogether.

When Jesus talked about believers doing greater things than He did, he was talking about believers like Paul!

So we have to understand that Paul’s thoughts and desires were far beyond typical earthly thoughts and desires.

When he had a true encounter with Jesus and transformed into a new creature, his old self died away and his new self hung any interest he had in the world on the cross.

He was physically walking the earth, but spiritually, he was already in heaven.

And when we truly mature in our walk with Christ, we will see the world as Paul did.

We will have no interest in the things of this world because the power of the Holy Spirit will convict us that we’ve transcended the world.

And it will be dead to us.

Be blessed,

Alexia

Prayer: God, I pray that you would help me to reach the level of spiritual maturity that the Apostle Paul had. Help me to understand and experience what it feels like to crucify all interests of this world. Take me higher, Lord, so I can be filled with the unusual power and perspective of your Holy Spirit. In Jesus’ Name, I pray, Amen.
