The captain of the guard called for Jeremiah and said, “The Lord your God has brought this disaster on this land, just as he said he would. For these people have sinned against the Lord and disobeyed him…But I am going to take off your chains and let you go. If you want to come with me to Babylon, you are welcome. I will see that you are well cared for. – Jeremiah 40: 2-4
Someone once told me that when you know you’re under God’s protection, the whole world around you could fall apart, but not a single hair on your head would be ruffled out of place.
That was definitely the case with the prophet Jeremiah.
His faith and obedience to God were indestructible.
And no matter what anyone else around him said, or how they treated him, he stuck to God’s truth.
Every morning when he woke up, he brought his own strong conviction in God out into the world with him.
He didn’t look to anyone else for guidance or confirmation. He just relied on his one-on-one relationship with God.
So it’s not surprising that while all the other Israelites were scrambling in a panic during the Babylonian takeover, Jeremiah was given VIP treatment.
Jeremiah was even given the option by the Babylonian captain to go to Babylon or stay in Judah. And in either scenario, God would have made sure he was well fed and protected.
That’s why we can’t be dismayed by what others say, how they treat us, or by unfavorable circumstances that may arise.
Because when it’s all said and done, God will reward us according to our faith and devotion to Him.
Even if the world around us is falling to pieces or our enemies are poised to attack, God will see to it that we come out unscathed.
Be blessed,
Alexia
Prayer: God, keep my focus every day on you and only you. Prevent me from being discouraged or dismayed by the world or people who may try to come against me. Help me to stay strong like Jeremiah so I can enjoy the fruits of my faith. In Jesus’ Name, I pray, Amen.
