John 3: 16-17 – For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, so that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
So I must confess: Last week, I told a lie. I knew it was wrong… but I did it anyway out of fear.
Afterwards, I felt a wave of guilt rush over me and I immediately asked God for forgiveness. But the guilt didn’t stop there. I continued to beat myself up after that. I thought:
Alexia, you’re a grown woman. You know better. Why would you do that? You have terrible character. God is gonna get you back for this!
I imagined how God was going to punish me, how my karma was going to come around and bite me…
But later that day, I got a phenomenal, game-changing revelation after completing the first lesson in my Because of Jesus workbook by Connie Witter. (This book is the truth, y’all!)
I realized that if I was going to continue carrying the weight of my transgressions, then there was absolutely NO POINT of me being a Christian.
Jesus died on the cross to atone for all of our wrongs. So if we believe in Jesus and go to God asking for forgiveness in sincerity, we have to accept that we’re forgiven. We have to move forward in our purpose and STOP holding on to our past mistakes.
Jesus already covered the bill. So our transgressions (no matter how big) have been blotted. They’re gone. They’re dead. They’re buried. In the eyes of God, they will never be resurrected again.
So on this Easter Sunday, be convicted in the Spirit of Jesus – that He died and was resurrected so that we could grow, be abundant, and strive to be more like Him…not so that we would perpetually live in shame and condemnation.
By grace alone, Jesus covered our sins. Because of Him, we can truly live in peace.
What a PROFOUND gift!
Happy Easter, Everyone!
Sincerely,
Alexia
