“This river flows east through the desert into the valley of the Dead Sea. The waters of this stream will make the salty waters of the Dead Sea fresh and pure. There will be swarms of living things wherever the water of this river flows. Fish will abound in the Dead Sea, for its waters will become fresh. Life will flourish wherever this water flows…” – Ezekiel 47: 8-9

One of the most powerful and encouraging visions that God gave to Ezekiel was that of the river which flowed from the restored Holy Temple.

God vowed to return to Israel again and fill the new Temple with His presence.

And with this vision, God wanted Ezekiel to know that His presence was a serious force that created life itself.

His river could survive the dryness of the desert to reach the Dead Sea.

And it could make the salty, lifeless water of the sea fresh and pure.

Scripture even goes as far as to say that there would not only be life where this river went but swarms of living things.

Talk about Holy Water!

And isn’t it a tremendous relief to know that we can access the river of God’s eternal Holy Spirit at any time throughout the day?

Anytime we pray, meditate, or read God’s word, He’s there with us, refreshing and renewing us from the inside out.

He causes the dead, useless parts of us to shed away, making way for new life within us, new opportunities, new visions, new ideas, new grace, and new joy.

All we have to do is pause and take a sip of His cool, refreshing water, and the life within us will teem like giant schools of fish!

Be blessed,

Alexia

Prayer: God, thank you for being an ever-present help and support in my life. When I get frustrated, confused, worried, or burned out, help me to stop and remember your eternal Holy river. Refresh me and give me a brand new outlook and vigor for life. In Jesus’ Name, I pray, Amen.
