The Lord made the earth by his power, and he preserves it by his wisdom. With his own understanding, he stretched out the heavens. When he speaks in the thunder, the heavens roar with rain. He causes the clouds to rise over the earth. He sends the lightning with the rain and releases the wind from his storehouses. – Jeremiah 51: 15-16

Do you remember those dreadful group projects from high school and college?

The ones where one or two people end up carrying the burden of completing the assignment that the whole group is responsible for?

Those assignments brought on so much stress and frustration when the freeloaders didn’t carry their weight.

But in our relationship with God, we’re the freeloaders.

And unlike us, He doesn’t mind carrying the weight.

Because His power and understanding are far beyond our comprehension. Everything that exists, seen and unseen, was formed by His hands:

He created every element on the table, molecule, and atom, and He alone is entirely in control of the laws of nature.

So that means we don’t have to overcomplicate life.

We don’t have to worry, stress, burn ourselves out, or plan things to the T.

All we have to do is show up for the assignment of our lives and trust that God will gladly bear the burden of completing the project.

When we fill our minds with thoughts of His power and trust Him, He will make us excel beyond anything that we could ever ask, think, or imagine.

Prayer: God, I thank you for being a God who fully takes charge of my life when I simply ask you to. And I thank you for sending your Son Jesus to bear the burden for my sins. Whenever I feel overwhelmed or discouraged, please help me to reflect on your awesome power and understand that I don’t have to labor over or worry about what you’ve already made provisions for. In Jesus’ Name, I pray, Amen.
