“Don’t be afraid!” Elisha told him. “For there are more on our side than on theirs!” Then Elisha prayed, “O Lord, open his eyes and let him see!” The Lord opened the young man’s eyes, and when he looked up, he saw that the hillside around Elisha was filled with horses and chariots of fire.” – 2 Kings 6:17

The prophet Elisha once had a run-in with Aramean troops when they were sent to seize him for counseling the Israelites during a time of war.

One morning, Elisha’s servant awoke to discover that he and Elisha were surrounded on every side by troops, chariots, and horses.

And the young servant just about lost it.

Elisha attempted to reassure him that everything would be alright, but this servant was the type who had to see in order to believe.

So when Elisha prayed, God was gracious enough to open the servant’s eyes so he could see the truth of the situation.

Oftentimes, we’re like the servant and we panic because life can be tough and scary.

And we don’t know what to make of certain situations.

But if we know that God is real and His promises are true, then we have to believe that He’s working behind the scenes for us.

So when things look bad, we should ask God to help us see in the Spirit so we can be at peace when we encounter difficult or confusing situations.

The Holy Spirit who guards our hearts and minds will surely be gracious enough to unveil the truth at the right time to give us blessed assurance.

Be blessed,

Alexia

Prayer: God, when I feel attacked on all sides, when I’m discouraged, when I feel broken or confused, I pray that you will open my eyes and help me to see in the Spirit. Help me to analyze my situation from a heavenly perspective and not an earthly one so I can escape the tricks of the enemy. Give me peace, God. And draw me closer to you. In Jesus’ Name, I pray, Amen.
