To learn, you must love discipline; it is stupid to hate correction. Fools think their own way is right, but the wise listen to others. – Proverbs 12: 1; 15
The problem with us humans is that we don’t like listening to other people.
We really think we know best. And we think we have a monopoly on hearing from the voice of God.
But guess what?
God speaks through people! We’re one of His many vessels for communication.
He gives us all insight when we pray and read His Word, and everyone brings to the table their own unique life experiences and testimonies.
So how foolish is it for us not to value the thoughts, feelings, and insights of others when they’ve traveled roads we haven’t traveled and seen things we haven’t seen?
We need each other to grow just like a seed needs soil, nutrients, and moisture to sprout.
And we can’t dismiss others based on age, sex, or race if what they’re telling us is sound and truthful.
If we do, we’ll just live our lives in our own little ignorant bubbles and never experience the fullness of the Spirit as God intended for us.
We must remember that it’s better to listen to others than to cycle our own thoughts over and over.
Be blessed,
Alexia
Prayer: God, help me to be open to receiving the messages you send to me through other people. Help me to discern between sound advice and bad advice, and give me the humility to accept correction and change for the better. Remove pride from my heart so that I may grow in the Spirit. In Jesus’ Name, I pray, Amen.
