Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. Don’t be impressed with your own wisdom. – Proverbs 3: 5-7
I’ve heard it said that wisdom comes with age.
And others propose that wisdom comes through hardship and life experience.
But according to Scripture, neither of those theories are true.
Wisdom comes directly from God and He gives it indiscriminately to those who seek it and ask for it.
So we have to be super careful not to smell ourselves and proclaim ourselves to be wise based on our own personal criteria.
Because when we do, we become fools who cannot learn anything new from God or from others.
The person who thinks they know everything already has a hard time accepting that there are things they don’t know, concepts and truths they haven’t yet grasped.
And they have a stronger tendency to become defensive or completely shut down when they hear viewpoints that differ from their own.
So before we make any moves in life, we have to submit ourselves to God and ask Him to guide each and every one of our steps.
When others come to us for advice, we have to admit that we don’t have all the answers and go to God in prayer with them.
And we certainly can’t judge or make assessments about the lives of others when we have a very limited perspective.
We have to show humility and be aware that we will always have so much to learn.
Because God’s knowledge and wisdom is infinite.
As long as we live, we will always have to rely on Him to guide us.
Be blessed,
Alexia
Prayer: Lord, I confess that I don’t have all the answers and I need you. Surround me right now with your Holy Spirit and humble the parts of me that are arrogant or pretentious. Replace my self-reliance with your divine wisdom so that I can see the world as you would have me see it. Help me to be a loving comfort to others and show them how to kneel before you and listen to your all-knowing voice. In Jesus’ Name, I pray, Amen.
