David replied to the Philistine, “You come to me with sword, spear, and javelin, but I come to you in the name of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies – the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defiled. – 1 Samuel 17:45

Everyone knows the story of David and Goliath.

David was a kid with a slingshot who defeated a 9ft. tall military-trained killing machine – we’ve heard it a million times and we get the message right?

Or do we really?

We may get it in theory, but in reality, how many of us when faced with “giants” in our lives maintain the same composure and faith as David?

How many of us react to life’s challenges like the Israelite army reacted to Goliath – trembling in fear, forgetting that we serve a God who can defy the laws of nature?

If we’re honest, many of us react that way.

We allow our giants to trick us into downplaying the power of God.

When we’re faced with real, tangible Goliaths in our lives – diseases, addictions, disorders, joblessness, enemies in high places, poverty, depression, failure, abuse, etc. – we shouldn’t crumble in defeat.

Instead, we should feel a sense of peace knowing that there is no human, spiritual, medical, or psychological force on this planet that can defeat the force of Heaven’s Army.

We must trust wholeheartedly in God’s power to help us overcome our “giants” just as fiercely as David did.

When the challenges in our lives have us breaking down in tears, losing sleep, and losing hope, we must remember who God is and what He’s capable of.

We must remember that the God we serve created the entire universe and is in full control of everything.

He is, has always been, and will always be a supernatural God who has no limits.

So we must know that our “giants” represent a drop of water compared to His tidal wave of power.

When we submit to God and place ALL of our faith and trust in Him, He will work miracles.

If you have a giant in your life right now that is threatening your sanity, your peace, your stability, your safety, or even your life, take that monster to God right now in prayer. It doesn’t matter what it is or how long you’ve been dealing with it. Ask Him to surround you, strengthen you, increase your faith, give you confidence, and fight for you. And move forward knowing that God can do the impossible.

Be blessed,

Alexia
