Take the Levites as substitutes for the firstborn sons of the people of Israel. And take the livestock of the Levites as substitutes for the firstborn livestock of the people of Israel. The Levites belong to me; I am the Lord. – Numbers 3:45

The children’s choir at my church sings this cute little song called “Unashamed.” It’s absolutely adorable and it goes,

We are unashamed to worship.

Unashamed to give Him praise.

Unashamed to tell the world that Jesus saves

I love it because proclaiming faith in Christ can seriously be a challenge for some people.

I know I’ve gone through my “ashamed” phase:

Should I share my faith with others? Will I be seen as a crazy Jesus freak if I profess my faith? If I invite this person to church, will they get mad or reject me? Should I share my testimony about how I came to Christ?

Over time, I’ve realized the answers to these questions undoubtedly are yes, doesn’t matter, don’t worry about it, and absolutely yes.

God doesn’t want lukewarm faith. He wants it scorching hot.

He wants us to stand up for Him like the Levites did.

When Moses asked the Israelites to choose who they were going to follow after the golden calf debacle, the Levites unanimously chose to stick with God.

And guess what?

God set them apart and gave them a promotion!

While the rest of the Israelite men were drafted to be soldiers, the Levites were placed in charge of caring for the Tabernacle.

They were almost equal in ranking with the priests.

They became so special in the eyes of God, that the firstborn sons among the Israelites were no longer dedicated to God. The Levites took their place.

And Jesus wants us to continue to stand for Him and the Father in our daily lives. His warning to us is crystal clear in Matthew 10:33: Whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is heaven.

So never be ashamed to tell others who your Savior is!

Be blessed,

Alexia
