Aaron’s sons Nadab and Abihu put coals of fire in their incense burners and sprinkled incense over them. In this way, they disobeyed the Lord by burning before him the wrong kind of fire..so fire blazed forth from the Lord’s presence and burned them up, and they died there before the Lord..And Aaron was silent. Leviticus 10: 1-3
One of the most painful things in life is watching a loved one slip away from you into a life of destruction.
You wish you could control their thoughts and actions with a remote control to avert them from danger.
But you can’t.
God gave us all free will, and people are going to do what they want to do despite warnings or reason.
I can’t imagine the internal agony Aaron felt when he watched his sons being consumed by flames.
His faith was tested to the max that day, and I’m sure he was extremely mortified and angry; Angry at his sons, angry at God, probably even angry at himself for not preventing the calamity.
But despite that horrific tragedy, he held his peace!
When you love someone who stubbornly refuses to see the light, and continuously makes self-destructive decisions, it’s heartwrenching.
But there’s nothing you can do but hold your peace like Aaron and trust God to give you answers in His time.
Just remember that no matter how dire the circumstance looks, God is able to turn it around.
Give Him your family and friends in prayer, and He will go to work for them.
Hold your peace and watch God work.
Be blessed,
Alexia
