But Moses protested to God, “Who am I to appear before Pharaoh? Who am I to lead the people of Israel out of Egypt?” God answered, “I will be with you…” Exodus 3: 11-12
Most, if not all of the men God gave instructions to in the book of Genesis were obedient to His commands:
- Noah built the ark.
- Abraham followed instructions to sacrifice Isaac.
- Jacob went back to Bethel when God told him to go.
But Moses?!
Moses said, “No way, Jose! I ain’t going to Pharaoh. I ain’t leading the people nowhere. You got the wrong guy. Go find somebody else more equipped for this job.”
He was so insecure and lacking in confidence that he told God no. Isn’t that a strange little paradox? He was bold enough to say no to God Almighty but too self-conscious to approach Pharaoh or be a leader for his people.
Moses protested his assignment to lead the Israelites out of Egypt about four times!
His hesitation is understandable though. Moses had difficulty speaking and became tongue-tied (I can relate!), so perhaps he had some type of anxiety disorder. Who knows?
But what a mighty work God performed through that timid, tongue-tied man!
There’s no task we’re not capable of accomplishing when we have God to back us up.
Do you want to start a business but don’t feel capable? Do you doubt your parenting skills? Are you battling an addiction that seems insurmountable?
Whatever it is you think you can’t do, whatever seems impossible…know that you can acheive anything when God’s power is reinforcing you.
You got this!
Be blessed,
Alexia
