When I read the Bible cover to cover in 2019, some verses stopped me in my tracks and really helped me lay some of my anxieties to rest.

So when I decided to create this list, I carefully took an inventory of all the verses I highlighted.  There are popular verses that speak directly about fear and anxiety. But other verses speak of God’s nature and strength, and they are so powerful that I couldn’t help but release my fears after reading them.

I believe that when it comes to dealing with anxiety, understanding that God is sovereign and holds all power is crucial.

He wants us to seek Him and live as righteously and faithfully as we can in the midst of whatever we’re going through.

God wants us to have a  close symbiotic relationship with Him.  Through this relationship, He’s able to speak to us, guide us, comfort us, protect us, and calm our fears.

So without further ado,  here’s my list!

Deuteronomy 20:1 – When you go out to battle against your enemies, and see horses and chariots and people more numerous than you, do not be afraid of them; for the Lord your God is with you.

2 Samuel 22:31 – As for God, His way is perfect; The word of the Lord is proven; He is a shield to all who trust in Him.

Nahum 1:7 – The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; and He knows those who trust in Him.

Isaiah 40: 28-29 – Have you not known?  Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the end of the earth, neither faints nor is weary.  His understanding is unsearchable.  He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might, He increases strength.

Psalm 37: 23-24 – The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord,  and He delights in his way.  Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; For the Lord upholds him with His hand.

Romans 15: 13 – Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit

Hebrews 11:6 – But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

Deuteronomy 1:29-31 Then I said to you, “Do not be terrified, or afraid of them.  The Lord your God, who goes before you, He will fight for you, according to all He did for you in Egypt before your eyes, and in the wilderness where you saw how the Lord your God carried you, as a man carries his son…

2 Samuel 22: 2-3 And he said: “The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; The God of my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, My stronghold and my refuge…

1 Chronicles 28: 20 And David said to his son Solomon, “Be strong and of good courage, and do it; do not fear nor be dismayed, for the Lord God-my God- will be with you.  He will not leave you nor forsake you, until you have finished all the work for the service of the house of the Lord.”

Matthew 11: 28-30  “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.  Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

Mark 4: 39-40 Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm.  But He said to them, “Why are you so fearful?  How is it that you have no faith?”

Mark 5: 35-36 While He was still speaking, some came from the ruler of the synagogue’s house who said, “Your daughter is dead.  Why trouble the Teacher any further?” As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, He said to the ruler of the synagogue, “Do not be afraid; only believe.”

Philippians 3:13-14 No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.

James 1:6-7 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.

I hope these verses helped you to see how truly amazing God is! Your anxieties are no match for God’s power!

Sincerely,

Alexia
